My Very Own Truth
You taunt me with a vibrant spectrum
In a distant land faraway from here,
Refracting rays of my own glorious sun
Through raindrops stolen from my air,
You show me a lone cactus flower
Telling me gardens grow in a desert
Pointing to expanse of reflective sands
Claiming the mirage is a pool of water,
You disturb my dreamy pastures
With a promise of brilliant endeavor
Then proceed to wreck my only utopia
Turning my dream into a nightmare,
When I'm feeling thirsty for water
You direct me to deep-blue oceans
Having first taken me to a frozen lake
And barren banks of a tiny dry-river,
I keep your company my nebulous foe
For you too may be just as confused;
And without you I may still wander,
Left alone to face my very own truth.
