My Special 'Brella

Oh, soaring heart of mine!
How wonderful! How grand!
I was so terribly sad, before ...
But now my britches are bursting with joy!
You see, the sky was crying,
Just a minute ago!
Weeping and sobbing from fright ...
The lightning scared it so!
(And scared me, too, though I'm a brave little boy!)
So bright and close, it was!
That poor sky, I was so sad!
It's always so sunny and blue and bright!
And sometimes scattered with white, puffy cotton, so soft!
Mommy left me here, just for a minute,
(Though she's still watching me, nearby),
Left me with my 'brella ...
And right away a dark cloud came and flashed,
And the sky cried and sobbed ...
Oh, I was so sad!
But look! LOOK!!
The sky is smiling ... in COLORS!!
You see, I opened my 'brella, all by myself!
Oh, I didn't mind getting wet, I'm a brave little boy ...
I opened my 'brella for the sky to see!
Red like my britches - with polka dots!
It's my happy 'brella, and I KNEW it would help!
And now look!!
Oh, soaring heart of mine!
Such a smile I have never seen!
Streaking colors from horizon-to-horizon!
Have you ever known such a broad and colorful smile?
And it's all because of ME!
Wait until I tell Mommy ...
She's going to be so proud of me!
I made the day feel better ...
I made the sun shine again, and the sky smile!
Oh, how wonderful of me!
What a special 'brella!
What a brave little boy I am!
(I hope Mommy comes back soon ... I think my foot is stuck).
