My Shoes
These are my most loved shoes of all,
They let me do the things I like
To do for fun in my spare time:
They let me walk, and climb and hike.
The heavy leather hiking boots
For serious mountains, scree, loose rocks
And snow (my most expensive ones)
Require slightly thicker socks.
My lightweight mesh side walking shoes
For forest trails and desert sands,
I love their comfort, and I wear
Them weekly here in local lands.
My well worn sandals made by Keen
For wading streams are getting holes
From being used all summertime.
Worn down to nothing are the soles.
The climbing shoes that tightly pinch
So I can step on tiny edge
Have rubber soles that keep me stuck
By friction on a narrow ledge.
