My Parental Response To Rumi

If you desire wealth
Go and make some money
Don't let yourself be poor

If you desire peace
Become a diplomat
Don't let yourself fight

If you desire love
Make yourself loveable
Don't let yourself hate

If you desire wisdom
Go and experience life
Don't let yourself be ignorant

If you desire healing
Get some pills from the doctor
Don't let yourself listen to Rumi

                                                      "If you desire healing,
                                                       let yourself fall ill
                                                       let yourself fall ill."
                                                       -  Jalaluddin Rumi

I love this interpretation of the quote, so many different solutions in just three lines. Good luck in the contest!

I'll be getting mine up sometime this week. I already have six other poems on standby. Just like to space them out!!

Not a bad approach. I tend to post mine too quickly and end up tweaking words and phrases later.

I like this straightforward and more practical advice!! I took RUmi in such a deep way, I came up with a really weird poem (not posted yet. ugggg)

Thanks Andrea! Bit of a strange quote - can be taken in so many ways with so many perspectives. I look forward to reading your entry! :-)
