MY KAREY AND MATT

Dusk shone lavender toned skies upon the mountain field
where scattered trees with wizened limbs were steeled to ground.
High grass tickled their small legs while they giggled and ran.
Intoxicated by freedom from rules and the summon of fireflies,
they were four cousins with jars on a lark never known before.
All under nine but two would wake the morn to lifelong heartache.

Dear CayCay, Congrats on POTD! I think you sketch the scene with such ease, lavender dusk, kids running wild, fireflies calling them into a world that still felt safe. What I love is how you hold both things at once, the innocence of that night and the shadow that came after. Winter Blessings, CayCay, Daniel

Wow! I am left gasping for air and grasping a hollow bag of Oxygen by the dramatic and traumatic ending of this masterpiece, CayCay. A Fave for me. Thanks, Gershon

the joy seems so fleeting while the pain seems everlasting. I shall be pondering this one long after my eyes close tonight 'neath the quizzical eye of a saddened moon. Nicely done CayCay

Dearest CayCay, my heart can feel each and every moment within. So tender and innocent, yet, sad and emotional; all at the same time. I see these words have been chosen as Poem of the Day. My best to you, my sweet friend. Hugs, Brandy
