My Christmas Prayer
At this special time of year,
when goodwill softens the heart.
When bells ring, out with good cheer,
and hostilities seem to depart.
The world, seems a gentler place,
with thoughts of miracles and wonder.
Where voices sing songs of praise,
music flows into the blue yonder.
Dear Lord, I am reaching out to you,
sending my Christmas prayer into the night.
It comes from a place, honest and true.
May it find you, within heaven's light.
Goodwill and peace on earth for all.
Please, let those words ring true.
If you listen, you will hear our call.
As we lift our weary arms to you.
Let those that govern, do so with care.
For the sake of our beloved land.
A commitment for all Americans to share,
Our given rights, we must understand.
Please let the devastation of this pandemic end.
Too many have lost their lives.
Allow us knowledge, on which we can depend,
to combat the danger so wellness survives.
Seek wounded spirits, for in fear they hide.
Please lift their burden, setting them free.
With your mercy their pain can subside.
Lost in shadows, grant them light to see.
Dear Lord, I ask for one more thing.
Let love grow as your wildflowers do.
Blossoms of peace, only love can bring.
With a heartfelt "Amen", I thank you.
