A Quatern is a sixteen-line French form composed of four quatrains. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of stanza one is the second line of stanza two third line of stanza three and the fourth line of stanza four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme scheme. line 1 line 2 line 3 line 4 line 5 line 6 (line 1) line 7 line 8 line 9 line 10 line 11 (line 1) line 12 line 13 line 14 line 15 line 16 (line 1)

Reborn, here, now, without baggage, Autumn inflames my heart and soul. Yet, I lament summer's passage, its dry bones crunching as I stroll. Cold winds shake the trees bare of leaves, reborn here, now without baggage. And brisk breezes blow in like thieves, stealing warmth and causing damage. Fall is a seasonal package that's wrapped in multicolored hues. Reborn here, now, without baggage, scarlet rejuvenates my muse. Autumn leaves form a fairyland, where color is an advantage. And nature paints summer's last stand, reborn here, now, without baggage. (Quatern) 10/06/2021

Good Morning Emile. It was an honor turning to your page this morning and yes to this well executed entry. Autumn is my favorite time of year for all obvious reasons and for all reasons that you state and paint for us. Is she not fabulous with all her flair as you wonderfully share with us. Yes she is. Thank you for sharing. May this day find you well. Keep enjoying poetry and poetrysoup.

Beautiful quatern on autumn, Emile. Oh, how I hate the end of summer. I'm a warm-weather person through and through and autumn tells me winter is coming fast on her heels. Good writing, as always.
