Move On From the Past

Thoughts of the past, pounding at my mind’s door, As thoughts keep pounding, my mind says no more! Thoughts of the future, now enter my head, My heart and mind choose future thoughts instead. Change seems challenging, though it is natural, We can’t stop change, certainly seems factual. No moving own and no smiling faces, Obstacles we find in many places. We choose to follow, no contemplations, No time to look at inter-relations. Decide to get moving, get off the fence, Forward we move with faith and confidence. Thoughts of the past, in the corner cower. Now life can blossom like a spring flower.

A wonderful sonnet my friend. Perfectly composed. That ending couplet- simply gorgeous! I try to live in the “present “ ,’the here, the now” for that’s all we truly have and march forward. So enjoyed your thoughtful words of wisdom. Thank you Bill for sharing. God bless.

I recall a proverb which says, "Do not contemplate on past or worry about future, enjoy the present". Nicely penned.

Very true words, Bill, that moving forward is vital to sustained living. Memories, however, can provide wisdom like "I won't do that again." Or memories can fortify, bring an inner glow. There are layers of complexity in remembering as they are an intricate part of self. Thank you for your thoughtful posting. Be well. Brian

I agree with your comment, Brian, memories are important. I have no problem with looking back on memories that are positive and even negative if for learning or understanding. It's just dwelling in the past all the time instead of living in the present that seems to be problematic to me. Have a great week, my friend. Bill

well written, dearest Bill. "Decide to get moving...with faith and confidence" such powerful words. If we look for obstacles, they're always there. Best to live in the day, putting regrets of the past behind. I love your insight and meaningful words. hugs, me

Oh Bill, some past is so magnificent I rejoice in remembering it. I must admit I am more happy thinking about the present than the future. Now I am old I don't bother with the future, I leave it to God to look after it. (The past does make for some interesting poems though!). Your poem led to some soul searching for me, before I commented Bill. Thank you so much, I enjoyed it.~~ I am waiting for the next 3 ! :)
