This oversized wooden chair feels oddly comfortable as we snuggle up on the raised deck of our cabin at the summit of an anonymous mountain here in Luray. No need for conversation. The tree frogs and crickets understand. They sing a superlative song of love as we, their willing and captive audience, take it all in through the senses. The clock rewinds as our carnal instincts cause our blood to rise in temperature. We are young once more, and in a few moments will retire to our rented room to enjoy each other as though it was the first time all over again. Afterward, at the midnight hour and under a violet moon surrounded by a canopy of a billion stars, I will recite love poetry to the one I adore. Love lives here, in this mountain, in all its glorious splendor. The tree frogs and crickets understand. sweet sounds of summer a maiden and her lover intimate moments

Oh, this is a beautiful romantic piece, hued with myriad heavenly tones and mesmerizing descriptions throughout.. The atmosphere that you've created here is quite mellifluous and scintillating with magical shades of nature, whilst weaving a gorgeous ambience of romanticizing.. Beautifully romantic Tom and tender. Very atmospheric- you can hear the tree frogs and crickets! Once again, your storytelling is sublime. You have the gift of transporting the reader to wherever your heart chooses to write. I too love that line,’ violet moon…’ The picture goes so well with the poem. I also like what I call,’easy accessible poetry’ or stories, as I find them more profound, enjoyable and memorable. This being one of them. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week.

Wow this is absolutely stunning. Definitely one of my very faves from you kingy. I love that violet moon and the evocative flow of emotions expressed here so eloquently. You really are the master of haibuns. Theres a very poetic rhythm in your lines “ loves lives here in the mountains “ gosh! So heartfelt. Love this really. And why do i not see new poems? Tom, despite looking at your infectious smile as I read this, I have tears in my eyes, Like the frogs and crickets, I understand. I just blinked and warm water fell down my face. The memory of the rented room as the clock rewinds, and to listen to poetry recited by a loved one, is rapture in any language. Thank you for this wonderful gift to us all. SV

I always tell people I'm just a simple storyteller. I don't write fancy or use big words that require a dictionary consult (though ignis Fatuus was a cool exception). So anytime I can make someone laugh or cry or think along new lines or just feel good with my simple poems or stories, I'm happy. Btw, this is based on a true memory
