Mother
Ah mother, how serene you look
In your resting place.
I blink back my tears
as I look down
on your frail body.
If only you can understand
what I feel for you,
there's nothing I wouldn't do
to see you healthy and strong,
to see your limbs full,
to watch you walk alone,
to see you eat a hearty meal.
Alas it is not to be.
Cruel father time will take his toll,
and your strength will recede
more and more,
like a wave that strikes the rocks
only to rise and fall.
Yet I shall never forget
I was born in your womb.
You are my life,
I owe you much.
Why didn't I die
Instead of you?
Forever we'll remain,
forever we'll soar.
