Modern Fuhrer

From mere delusion vile regimes evolve to fill a void and seed a hungry wave. His pulpit rage lets common sense dissolve as propaganda feeds them what they crave. ‘Tis sacrilegious seeking out the pawn with fabricated anguish and reprise, ‘tis but a tactic hate is built upon with promise of salvation as its guise. Such promises are built upon deceit that mocks the tide he claims to represent but, demagogues will not obscure conceit from moral hearts with ethical intent. His merciless intentions will unveil as all the world stands by to watch us fail.

Indeed and agreed!! A standing ovation for you, dear Mark, for not only your amazing sonnet finesse but for your poetic elegance and eloquence that captures the essence of “vile regimes” and the destruction of “common sense” by “demagogues” both past and present. Your powerful pen pulses with the danger at hand and your last line cements your status as a great poet. Although, on second thought, your status as a great poet was certainly cemented way before you penned this potent gem… Unfortunately, and to our demise, mankind’s memory is short. Warmest wishes my inspiring friend.. ~Susan

Ahh so true Mark. Have you read Preachers Present Arms? Religion's incitement to war during WWI while at the same time blessing the Prince of Peace is thoroughly exposed. Then I think of the Kamikazes and the delusion that suicide missions were guarantees of reward, all in the name of the emperor and Shintoism. Tis sad, tis sad

No, but will check it out… this sonnet is part of a heroic crown I’m writing depicting Germany’s invasion of France in WWII. Thanks for the visit.
