Milton Creek was waking up and outside it was snowing
And from the Sierra Nevada a strong wind was blowing
Mayor Tom had arranged a meeting for that same afternoon
And the venue was in the upstairs room in Jenna's saloon.
Tom had an envelope that contained Milt's will and last testament
The council looked bewildered and wondered what it meant
Tom opened the envelope and read it out loud and clear
"To my friends in Soup Creek, this will bring you some cheer".
"My colt forty fives I leave to Sheriff Koplin; my Winchester to Jenna
All my poetry books and my two bibles , I leave to Deb and Tania
The paintings I leave to our mayor to hang on his office wall
And the biggest asset I owned, ' Aces' hotel I leave to you all".
"Not forgetting Ranger David and new Deputy Terry
I leave them my two horses Bold Bess and Be Merry"
There was silence as everyone took in what Tom had said
They still couldn't get over the fact their good friend was dead.
Jenna said, "the hotel will need a manager who knows what they're doin'
And I know just the girl , it's my good friend Pinkerton Lin"
Jenna added " I'll ask her later; we're meeting at Anaya's for tea
Who's just opened a new restaurant St Milt's, a Mexican eatery".
"I'll offer her the manager's job and I'm sure she'll agree
Because she told me earlier, she was leaving Pinkertons agency
She's had enough of tracking lowlifes and wants to settle down
And from what's she's been saying has fallen in love with our town".
Jenna went to Anaya's and Lin was already there
She called out to Jenna and told her to pull up a chair
Jenna wasted no time and asked Lin to be the manager of 'Aces' Hotel
And from the expression on Lin's face, it was a yes, she could tell.
Meanwhile Deputy Michael had returned and handed in his star
Because he was now a lawyer and had qualified for the bar
He'd been horrified by some of the things that he saw
All because Milton Creek folks had no clue about the law.
Michael vowed he'd stamp out illegal building of any kind
Anyone breaking the law would get a piece of his mind
Sheriff Koplin was happy because often his hands were tied
Now offenders would be brought before the court and tried.
So now Milton Creek has a new manager of' Aces' hotel
And a top lawyer in Michael and we wish them both well
Of all the booming towns springing up in the American West
The mayor and all the townsfolk aim to make Milton Creek the best.
Ranger David and Deputy Terry headed over to see wrangler Rob
He knew all about horses and certainly knew his job
He saddled up Bold Bess and Be Merry ready for a ride
David and Terry weren't put off that it was still snowing outside.
