Contemplating mercy

Mercy is shown to those who mercy shows Matt 5:7 Judging and condemning is so easy, to show mercy is much harder Evil deeds abound today, criminals are much smarter. Vengeance feels really good, it is often said. But... How good can it feel, when it's your mercy that's dead? Showing mercy to others feels good even if we feel they don't deserve it We know we're doing what is right letting resentment go is worth it. Because... In the end it's resentment that kills you... eventually So why not try this divine quality and live your life mercifully. John Derek Hamilton May 06,2016

The title grabbed my eye but the read grabbed my spirit! The 4th and 5th lines of the 2nd stanza provoke very deep thought! The last two lines....an affirmation to emulate daily! This needs to be read!

Lovely write, John. The Bible does say that mercy will be shown to those who show mercy. I'm just wondering if in the fourth line of your third stanza a NOT is missing? Hugs

Hi Eileen thanks for your visit, yes Matthew 5:7 is the basis for this poem. I don't see where anything is missing but thanks for your observations.
