Memory Fails Her Again
What can a woman say to the world:
when she reached the age seventy?
She lived her life according to everybody rules.
A mother, friend, wife, and co-worker: how perky
Her years of really living have past her by
There is nothing left but shattered memories,
Old unpaid church tithe’s
"Oh how she cried".
A closet of daily reminders: dusty and outdated
Unable to finish organize her tops, it seems her memory fails
Holding on to what matter most; shattered memories
She stumbled half-awake to her bed, frustrated
