Memorials
One scene
of one loss
Ever seen
this cross?
Look aside,
kindly gaze
as you ride
in the haze
of highways and byways amid the fumes of rushing hours
Old memorials, forgotten tributes, circles of leaf and flower
Down a two-lane country road stands one lone, tiny tower
Flashing bright in high beams, watch it glimmer and glower
Pounded down
in green grass
Sacred ground
The years pass
still yet it glares
his lone last rite
Not a soul dare
trespass this site
Lost all he had
God tell me why
His grieving dad
now passes by
Oh my son
The fight
rages
on
