~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Me name is Punxsutawney Phil I was forced to leave my burrow and end my nice long sleep. I have the chance to make brows furrow; that’s a promise me shall keep. As I explored the Pennsylvania morning me thinks this is a test. Spot my shadow whilst sun is dawning, and I’ve earned some extra rest. Crazy humans, they’ll be watching, for they’re certainly nosy. They’ll come from near and far, just wait and see. Many will come and some will stay home, nice and cozy enjoying that famous flick starring Bill and me. Will I hibernate or get up? I can decide either way. It’s an oft-repeated set up. After all, it’s Groundhog Day
I am from Philly, so a proud Pennsylvanian you see. I knew about Phil before the movie. But the movie was simply over the top fun. And every year we have to check to see Phil's predictions that come.
thank you, Ink! I'm so grateful for your enthusiastic response to my poem. I created it in a hurry and didn't feel like it flowed the way I wanted...submitted anyway because I had to rush out of here. Knowing you liked it and found it worthy made my day. Enjoy your Saturday, hugs, Sara
The weather lady here said that both our state's groundhog and the one in Pennsylvania saw their shadow and so there would be an early spring. We shall see. Thanks for sharing this humor with us and for dropping by my page. There is an early Easter so maybe an early spring. Sara K
thanks, Sara B, for the Phil forecast...good to know. We're experiencing 'fake spring' here...so things are confused. Yes, I just saw Easter is early this year...wow...ready for spring, hugs, Sara B
Well yes we all could say and think this Sara Yet that can be impacted by how we go through That day, lets try to be (positive') to those we Know, or strangers..As along we go' maybe there Will strike a note? Touch a chord? Rekindle a Good memory, or sooth one of past dis-chord What have we lost.? For our time will pass.' Will we travel lightly? Or as on broken glass.? God bless mah your dag be well.'
Cute one! Love the dress up in top hats. A reason for a fun gathering perhaps not to be taken seriously. Puxatawny, our eyes are glued, our ears wait for the pronouncement of weather.
thank you, Kim, for your kind words. I believe Phil didn't see his shadow...so perhaps it will end sooner this year. I did read that Phil is only correct about 43% of the time. Sigh! :-) smiles, Sara
Thank you for remembering Phil today. I always wonder what happens to him afterwards. Groundhogs are known to be pests. Timely and lively.
Your whimsical poem titled "Me name is Punxsutawney Phil" captures the essence of the famous groundhog and the tradition of Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania... It blends humour, tradition, and cultural references to capture the spirit of Groundhog Day. Through Phil's perspective, the poem invites readers to join in the whimsical celebration of this unique annual event...
I've been following 'Phil,' too. Data suggests he's only right 43% of the time. Thanks for stopping by, Jay. Have a great evening...today he predicted the end of winter for he didn't see his shadow...way to go, Phil!
Dear Sara, You just made my Ground Hog Day special with your whimsical poem, and I love the picture that goes with it. It is funny some traditions we have. I am sure Punxsutawney would never be widely known without the Groundhog. After all, I am from Gettysburg. Thanks for your enjoyable poem. - Blessings, Daniel
