Making the First Move

Together they strolled in ambling late night When it was quite dark and lonely outside And coyly he caught a glimpse of her sight Where her usual bright smile silently cried Loudly they argued, returning from walk Waking their daughter who heard the brawl And they went to bed, not finishing their talk Erecting a wall that made them feel small Morning took him to their daughter's school When he hugged her and kissed a goodbye Thinking about last night when he was a fool As he saw her subdued by a troubled sigh Skipping work then he headed back to house Making the first move, saying sorry he was And she hugged him back like a gifted spouse Enfolding him in embrace of an indulgent pause May 27, 2019 Dedicated to those who make the first move

In a long standing relationship, there can be difference of opinion, arguments and brawls. But after such unpleasantness, if one takes the first move of reconciliation, the quarrel will end and life will begin anew with greater warmth and understanding . A beautiful poem inspiring couples to take the first move.

Excuse me only getting to this one now, Vijay, all things poetry have been the furthest thing from my mind of late, so I've hardly been around. This is a very well expressed tribute... I always appreciate the capacity of the humble to be big people in the face of conflict... nice write, my friend.

Just think how high the divorce rate would be if no one made the first move to apologize after an argument. Perhaps the love he felt for his daughter made him realize how much was at stake. Well done, my friend! Enjoyed your poem. Hugs, Carolyn

Saying 'sorry" is such a humbling experience - it is quite normal for a couple to disagree but it is a mighty person who takes the first step! Vijay a real gem as always! Hugs, Jennifer.

Vijay, it is amazing how many times we do this, knowing full well it is NOT the way to communicate. I have no idea why. You have brought this to my attention, and I like the way you subtly did this.

Making the first move, apologizing for a heated discussion of before. It takes someone with an humble heart. The scene you paint with your words touch my heart. Forgiveness is key to any relationship as well. Communication being the most important part. It takes two being on the same page. This is so beautiful and tender. ~ Brandy
