Love and Alcohol
Sunset ebbed so quickly,
Dark clouds gathered swiftly.
Cold wind whipped around me,
As I stood on the quay.
My old brittle bones ache,
Entirely my mistake.
Turned back to the haven,
A coward, a craven.
Now abandoned by all
I’d revert to my call.
No alcohol would aid.
Was just addicted by trade.
Yet there she was waiting
No more hesitating.
I smiled and saw her love.
Humbly thanked God above.
I made a solemn vow
No more hard drinks, somehow.
6 syllable couplets.
