Lost Verses
A line flashed across my mind
To begin a poem I should write
But the line stood all alone
And the poem never took flight
When dawn came with a drizzle of rain
It inspired a poetic refrain
But the refrain dried up in sunrays
And no more verses came again
In twilight shades there came a rhyme
And poetic thoughts were engaged
But the rhymes faded as night fell
And the poem never hit the page
As I strolled in the starry night
The twinkling stars inspired a verse
But the verse to the ebon winds were blown
And my inspiration soon dispersed
