Lost In The World

They shuffle slowly hand in hand In a world they longer know A world that has become so fast paced Their world disappeared a long time ago Their only son had long passed As had all their friends In their late 80’s now it was just the two of them Together from the beginning to the end Through the cottage door they step Relieved to be home safe inside To the only world they know now Their home ,their life and the safety and joy it provides!

Aw, Deb. Where's your sense of adventure gone? How about stepping out for a lively bungy-jump ride? After that, we hit the bars. Wuddyasay? ~ OMG = Old Man Gersh

Your poem touched my soul; although not in my 80s, I can relate to the aging couple. I feel some of the things they do. I appreciate the gentle and loving nature of your poem. For Bill and I, our home and each other = our safe haven. Have a great evening, Sara

Avery warm and loving poem, Deb. As we age, I think this poem is all most of us will aspire to have in our 80's. It's a blessing to live passed seventy for my generation. The culture most of us lived through was one of overeating, and under exercising. Medical problems in our 60's and 70's was and is the norm. Lifespan for baby-boomers was 70 for men and 73 for women. Eighty was something few expected to experience. I'll be 79 in 11 days, and I feel blessed to still be here. Love, bill

Whatever state the world might be in ‘out there’, your own front door and someone to share your own little world with has to be a blessing. Sad but with a silver lining. Enjoyed, Deb. Terry

At least they still have each other now, Deb. Sad that they've lost so many, but I'd be grateful to still be alive. Home is a sanctuary.
