Lost Friends - Left Behind

Lost Friends - Left Behind The sweet-sharp mind that enfolded me With encouraging words and a hug Has gone to places I cannot go, and How I long to know. The annoying way you had of listening To repeat secrets that you heard, And yet, your sweet mouth opened To love away all frustration. You wanted me to do a bit of favor, But you didn’t answer your phone. When I did reach you, you were cold. I learned where I belonged, Once we spent hours together; We each had endured losses severe, Though in our twilight time we overcame, As we, too slipped into hoary years. And you all have the curse of an aging mind, Locked away to me, leaving me behind, With those too young to understand, That I am traveling with you.

Very emotionally deep poem, Sunlite. An instant fave ... A re-read level poem. So thought-provoking and full of keen insight. Pure cerebral poetry! Love and joy always.
