Notes About The Poem

Hypocrites use a double standard and might classify the recent security breach as nothing special. However, it indicates incompetent, immature, and disturbed leadership. An honorable commander normally mourns the killing of anyone including our enemies, but apparently our leaders believe a less than human population inhabits the rest of the world. The use of emojis to label comments about using lethal military assets reinforces the view of American ugliness, callousness, and detachment. So Mr. President who loves to say, "YOU'RE FIRED!" will you fire those responsible who didn't have the honor and guts to offer their resignations?

What a lovely poem Duke criticizes leadership's arrogance and moral alienation in light of military activities and security vulnerabilities. It examines the dehumanization of individuals in conflict zones, as well as those in power's disturbing views on violence and loss of life. Sorry for missing your poetry recently; I was not feeling well and had to undergo surgery. But I am improving, and I shall return to your great poems.

SP, I am glad you are recovering and hope you are well!! Being out of this space does not mean you are forgotten. These things in life happen to us all and eventually become permanent. In the meantime we should enjoy all that we have. In my poem here, I was as you note pointing out how detached from reality our leaders are. There is no believable empathy on display.

Thanks Karen....I apologize for not responding sooner. The immature people we have currently running things are certainly going to screw things up big time....sad to say all of us are going to suffer as a result with the exception of certain billionaires who are so wealthy nothing really matters except their precious fortresses (jets, yachts, and bunkers). They've actually enabled all of this and are only now expressing second thoughts. This fits in the be careful what you wish for department.

My heart can't take the ugliness, callousness, and detachment shown by those who have sent others to die since time began. Our earth is saturated with the blood of the innocent who, for the most part, died for nothing. Everybody, everywhere, needs to stop, stop, stop! Obviously, your limerick wasn't designed to bring about 'group laughter', but 'group indignation and concern.' IT WORKED and I feel gray ... CayCay

CayCay, glad to see you. You're right that this is not a pretty subject, but it is a passionate one. Like you say, some men have been behaving foolishly since the start of our recorded history and probably well before that. We don't seem to learn since we're heading back to a more feudal society with kings and royals separated off from the rest of us. Take care!!

Duke, I'm listening to it all, and am really sad to witness this mess of a commando. The 300 visas taken away from the students who have protested and so much more, is making me miserably worried for them. They are careless with our soldiers lives, good one! oh I had you blocked by Mistake! ~fixed it, at times I'm on my phone and get notifications, while typing it's very easy to hit that button, and there have been blogs about it said it should be moved away from the comment box, reply , your comments always welcome:)

Thanks Anaya, I thought maybe someone was bothering you. I think the deportations are a show for the D.T. base meant to use the deportees as fuel for the MAGA movement. Just a dictator's tool in order to give him as much control as possible over the nation and the world. Long live the king stuff. Meanwhile, he's extorting for money as well as power. Sad outcome for the rest of us ordinaries who end up losing our own freedoms and sacrifice our standard of living for the sake of the very wealthy and well connected.

IE, thanks for this comment. This story has dragged on for a while here and reveals the cavalier attitude of the current leadership in charge. It shows how unqualified they really are and how we are courting trouble that will ultimately play out. Appreciate the light you send and sending back a smile!

Thanks Jan...we're hoping we can survive this horror show. It's all in project 2025 and they're ahead of schedule. They are acting like bullies who believe their behavior is acceptable. Take care when opening your door! I may not be smiling right now, but surely Vladimir is. Perhaps we should refer this as VV...Vampire Vladimire now in charge of cabinet communications.

He made excuses for the incompetence of people he shouldn't have put in charge of the country's security because they were HIS choices, and he only does things to make America great again. Thanks Lin, as more of the text comes out, it becomes clear that our leaders view this as some sort of game. They made some derogatory comments about Europeans too. Sadly, it's no joke and sends a terrible message to the rest of the world. The leaders we have never take responsibility for their mistakes/errors. The Roy Cohen playbook in action. Be well!!!
