How do you do it? You, oh little tree, standing not as tall as me, How do you survive? How do you reach your weakened limbs to find the water that means your life? How do you remain standing when those stronger and wiser have crashed before wind and time? How do you produce the hope of green buds in this blunt destruction? How do you lift to the sun under opaque night? How do you grow for tomorrow when today is an impasse? Help me, little tree, to find your tenacity.
