Limerick Joke Vi

An Irishman with a syndrome
Climbed onto my roof like a gnome
Said I with a stare
What thou wants isn’t there
Drinks are not on the house in this home!

Your poem is delightful Duke. I can just see a drawing of this taking place. #7 ;)

It would be best on a thatched roof. Do you see many of those where you are? You are a delight, by the way.

Yes an Irish friend told me this story. We love puns and making fun of ourselves. No harm in laughing ever. I remember sometimes not being able to restrain myself from laughing at the most in appropriate times. It is one of my serious character flaws that I am messed up by serious meetings. God, if someone texts me a joke at a meeting--I'm in trouble.

I haven't had time to even think of writing anything lately. Much of my productivity inclined time is being wasted by things happening at work. So do this, do that. Then, throw it away--we're not going to use it. Ugh!!! It's all meant for the best outcome, but there is a lot of trial and error rather than clear thought. I suppose it's normal.

Richard, thank-you for the comment. I just left you a comment on one of your poems. It takes a confident man to write from a woman's perspective. You make quite an impression and capture the essence of relationships. You make us think and ponder!

Casara, thank-you. When we have the opportunity to share a little humor, I say--go for it. A smile each day does a lot for the outlook we have. Even having the opportunity to talk to you here like this puts a smile on my face. Again, therefore, I thank you.

Duke you were so nice to read so many of my recent poems and I can't seem to find what to read of yours in this last few min. I have to be here at this school computer. Let me try to find at least one good limerick of yours i have not seen. I hate that my time is so limiting!! thanks again for your lovely comments on my poems.

Andrea, I am terribly busy with work and life so I can't write as often as I might otherwise. I know you are busy also, but somehow you create such beautiful things and you do so often. Your work is thought provoking. Elements AND Humanity. So very imaginative. Really special you are.

Well--perhaps just someone who takes language a bit too literally. BTW I also like the Cat Stevens line in a similar song--your only dancing on this earth for a short while. Oh they're young what will you give us this time. And hugs to you for your kindness and pleasantness!!!!

Well, I did it again. Your reply is above. There must be something off with the web site's human factors for these replies. Cat Stevens was barred from entering the US not too long ago since he is a muslim. A very strange occurrence--not letting him in. I think his music is phenomenal.

Ma'am, you are a presence! You have a heart of gold! Your comments are always kind. It breaks my heart to be picking on different groups--it's not politically correct, however, it's meant in fun. Fortunately, this was told to me by an Irish friend who thought it was too funny.

My intention was always that these could be read to children in order to start a discussion of different issues. How smart you are! I also sometimes read poems from here to my wife or others so that we can talk about them (when they hit me a certain way). It's a wonderful thing and a true golden corral. May I thank you again for restoring my faith in humanity?

I did it again. I left my comment for you above. It's the one directly above that's meant for you. I just read your food for thought poem on the golden corral. Quite a chain it is. Since it is a franchise, we have to figure that there is something other than pure love in the food. Keep your thinking cap on!!!!

Well, Duke, I am always pleased to read your limericks. Sometimes I will read the ones I love over and over, and share them with my 15-year-old son. He gets a kick out Limericks. LINDA

That is very sweet of you to say Connie. I left you a couple of comments. Your work is a reflection of the life you have and who you are, as is mine. You also have something very special going for you. There is something unique and charming about your perspective. It is very appealing and brings joy to me to experience the beauty and love.

I just read some of your recent additions. What an inspiration you are! You give us such a window into your mind. It is quite a thing you carry. Yet, you deal with it in a way that seems to work so well. No one should have to carry such a huge burden. What a remarkable person you are.

You have a heart of gold. There are many beautiful people here. I don't think I can ever give you the praise you deserve. I love reading your poems. My attention span for poetry is short. It has something to do with the effort that reading is and the search for meaning is hard. Your presence here and your comment mean a lot to me. Yes, please keep laughing!!

Linda, your visit is very, very much appreciated. I just read your Robin Hood piece. I am off work today so I am catching up on replies. The forest is really made up of our work here. It is a wonderful place because of poets like you. You are a charm. I have only best wishes for you. I like how you are dealing with the negative aspects of paradise. You=diamonds.

I actually heard this (as a story/joke) from an Irish coworker. I did it as a little gift for him. Glad you can laugh, sir! There are some wonderful people in this world. They are all so different and interesting. You, sir are a gem as I may have said before--just too funny!! Your work is wonderful and personal. God, I sound like I am on ecstasy--but it's only me. Poetry does something to me.

It's not politically correct, but I am glad you liked it. I took a look at some of what you have written. I particularly like how you write about nature and the universe we are in. Very enjoyable to read. This work of mine is only a joke meant to generate a laugh, but I do observe and love the world as well.

Based on a misinterpretation of the phrase, "drinks are on the house". Thinking there would be something nice and refreshing up there! Anyhow, we are very liberal with drinks here. Although I don't indulge much, the other people I am with tend to go a little overboard. It is sometimes a bit annoying because they get loud. At least they are happy and not angry when they drink!
