Like the Tide

My life, like the sea, ebbed and flowed, A world littered with peaks and valleys A painted vision like a chiaroscuro, When times were sometimes light, others dark. Yet one thing I can truly say Despite the fact you often left and returned. I was always blindly loyal to you. I never looked at another spouse. I admit we were neither Cherubs nor Seraphs, We all had our shortcomings. Despite that, you judged me on my few failures, However, I had my successes too. I worked hard and achieved much, Alas that interested you not. Eventually, we got married. I remained a faithful soul. We had our ups and downs, but I was loyal to you. So when I die I only wish for someone To write upon my tomb’s headstone: He loved loyally.

Victor, with all the temptations that are shoved in our face these days, especially on tv. It takes a strong soul to keep loyal to your spouse, even when they are gone for years. Bravo! Fine write!

Victor, you described true love, it starts as romantic love, then reality sets in with it's ebbs and flows and turns into a deeper true love, raw and emotive and worth all the ups and downs, hugs.

This touched my heart in a very emotive and soul stirring way.. Sigh, the vulnerability expressed in these lines beyond vivid and reflects the silhouette of a very deep soul. Indeed, loving loyally must be beyond all the onyx waves that crash on the shorelines of life.. Because that's the essence of true love and togetherness. This write has definitely become one of my favs, so beautifully written..

This is so poignant and evocative how you’ve expressed here, sometimes in life, we may not be appreciated for our efforts etc, but it takes a strong and courageous soul to “ love loyally” amidst all the tides that pull and push you through cruel currents of time: i felt so much reading this: a fave

"True to thine own self" -- what's more, the vow given your God. Heaven ultimately will decide who was right/wrong, better/worse -- but those who worship Truth, sleep well...and eternally with love will reside and rest. Touching, heartfelt read, relatable to many here, truth essential if endearing one's poetry.

An automatic favorite for me,you knocked on the Geary of my soul. You. With stood hard times,I can relate to that, all too well. Loyalty is a gyrations virtue, Even being loyal to fiends seem to be of Bo value, These days being flashy, bavdy or cute replaced true goodness, No matter what, stick tou your vaslues… As if you wouldn’t! As humans we are creatures of the flesh. A flesh that oft succumbs to dark temptations. That we survive to live on is testament to our heart and soul. We do get over from such heartaches and we are much stronger for it. God bless you. A gem and a fav on this fine poem.

Life, my dear Victor, is a symphony of highs and lows, a rollercoaster ride through the vast expanse of human experience. Yet, it is the unwavering bond that we forge with one another that anchors us firmly to the earth beneath our feet, like roots intertwined with the soil. Your words, my friend, are a masterpiece, painting a vivid and captivating portrait of the beauty found in resilience and togetherness.

Despite all ups and downs, you were so true and loyal to your partner though she didn't take that into account. Even after death, you want to affirm your loyalty to her and make the world know that you have ever been loyal. A touching poem dear Victor.
