Life Smiles Strange Smiles
You hold me
Upright while you tell me
It's going to be alright
It's going to be alright
I cry at you
We'll all be dead at some point
We'll be tested, all of us
at some point
I rest my head
in the crook of your neck
while water flows
and you soothingly whisper
It's going to be alright
It's going to be alright
But I scream at you
With paralyzed vocal cords
Life smiles its strange smiles
It brings the best people
To do the worst jobs
For me, filled with gratitude
(and disgust)
I rest my head with eyes closed
And let you sing
Let the youth in you step out
And sing your words for me
I smile at you
While you hold me upright
My eye trails the sunlight
In your hair
I give in, and give over to sleep
