Life is not just the passing of the years but the ripening wisdom of living. Life is not just a toll taken but a well of receiving and giving. Life is not just the people who have come and gone but the heart’s many faces and forms. Life is not just the winds of change and chance but a weathering of stalls and storms. Life is not just the luck of survival but the brave conquering of strife. Life is not just the accumulation of memories but a gathering of love and life. Life is not just a series of unharmonized, random events but faithfully believing life is an orchestrated, melodious song.

The poem is indeed wonderful, but the sentence "Life is not" can be used to start the poem and then rest of the poem can be completed without the sentence "Life is not." I enjoyed the poem. Thanks !

Dear Sara, I absolutely loved this, today, i was judging the contest not alone but reading the poems out loud together with my twin sister and cousin who are also poets and one is a singer. And we all loved this from the very start, the seamless flow of wisdom and depth in this stood out for me truly and how you built it up to the line of the prompt. Sara, this is so beautiful and melodious! The entire poem is amazing, but these lines 'Life is not just the luck of survival but the brave conquering of strife.' I feel like I would love to have these lines printed on a pendant and held close to my heart to be able to glance at any time I need to feel brave. I'm not that brave sometimes when storms of life roll in. This poem is certainly a fave for me <3
