Life and Everything

I don't need to do anything much today. Ate my breakfast took my pills and showered. The bins go out Tomorrow. I don't have A cat. The TV's pre-set to record; I watch it anyway, (A president to come Or will he go?) A mass of people swelter In a too hot sun Or huddle bleakly in the snow. The riots will kick off after dark. It goes along every day the same. The instructions that we got don't match the kit. The manual we asked for never came and Nobody can work out how to make it go.

Very witty write. I know, it is frustrating. Like spinning one's wheels on ice, or out of gas in the desert. A relatable dilemma. Blessings my friend.

Hi, Joe! Like voices in the wilderness! Say, I wonder if it makes a sound when we go down if nobody's there to hear it? Elizabeth

Yep, we are all working on faulty manuals badly translated from mandarin. All trying to make a day work properly. Much enjoyed Elizabeth.

Thank you, Eric. I guess it's what we were all told in the beginning (but thought we were smarter than that) that in the final analysis, we have only one another. Elizabeth

I loved this poem about age catching up. Your words, for me, Elizabeth, describe how it is..and isn't. Cheers - Gary

Very kind of you, Gary. I'm finding now that , after some extended period when I successfully denied the onslaught of age, I actually enjoy exploring it with a sort of curiosity. Elizabeth

Hi GW. Exactly. I can sing "La-La-La" for only so long but I don't know what to do to fix things. Elizabeth

I enjoyed your poem, Elizabeth, and thank you for reading mine as well. Your cover an average day in the life of a lot of us that are aging and the world is changing faster than we can keep up with. Write on! my friend. I'll be back to read more and follow your poetry. A poet friend to be, in Texas. Bill

That is very kind of you, Bill. I am familiar with some of your work and always find it interesting. I thought I knew what it was like to be old. Now I'm finding out what it's like to be really old! Happy to have a friend! Elizabeth

If I am not out taking photographs, I spend my days researching my late wife's ancestors, which is more interesting than TV! Aloha!

I know what you mean, Elizabeth, but since the pandemic onset, I, of course, have been staying at home more, and I have actually begun to enjoy and appreciate a little more "routine" in my daily activities.

I've had to slow down and so feel the gap between what I can do and the needs of climate problems, the people problems and all of us not really knowing how to solve them. It sounds as though you have found a balance. That's great! Hang on! Elizabeth

Pity if you have Covid. Life is humdrum until it goes off.

I don't know where my reply went, Victor so I'll try again! It's not covid but just getting older and more things that hurt to move! Poetry Soup is a real help because instead of fretting, I can be searching my mind for a meter or a rhyme...and hearing back from lovely people like you! Elizabeth

Being stuck at home with Covid is a drag. Same old , same old. I liked your poem Elizabeth because I can relate to what your day was like, I don't have a cat either. Enjoyed reading Cheers Wendy
