I woke up to find swirling snow,
the wind howling with gusto;
trees swaying and bending to and fro,
snow covering streets, parks and each meadow.
In the dawn the snow draped trees were aglow,
dancing snowflakes twirled high and low;
sometimes- they were fast and then slow,
oh, I found the storm an enthralling show.
Outside my window is a weeping willow,
and the storm shook her with each blow;
but she survived the snowflakes endless flow,
yes, there were moments I thought she would go.
It was quite the winter storm fandango;
I even saw a bird dressed up for snow !
