Notes About The Poem

Lasting Place

I imagine a day…

I imagine a day,
	when my heart just knows,
beyond the shadow of a doubt,
how love’s light flows
caressing my spirit with the wonder
	miracles of sweetest praise
		felt by hearts who know
this music in rhythms of grace…

I imagine a day,
	when my soul can find,
breathless songs, a spirit of love
that sings the notes of light and praise
sings the praise that reminds us….
how God holds the whole world,
counting even the smallest hairs
so we can count on Him – through prayers…

I imagine a day,
when the pain is not mine,
joy is more than felt,
	its seen through sparkling eyes,
who know what it is to love
with a love that can only be known
by the ones who the Father has shown
the meaning of humility in place of p r i d e

I imagine a day,
when the whole world will see,
just how wonderous is this love –
He died for you and me,
	taught us what it means
to give everything, even your life
so that someone can see…
beyond the darkness, to the peace
that comes to the soul who believes…

I imagine a day,
when He will hold my hand,
tell me what it means – His master plan
all the good and bad,
the feelings, both happy and sad
all the fears and tears, what it means
to be blessed by a love that comprehends,
a love that is more than a feeling…

I imagine a day,
when my spirit will walk away
from this former place…
oh, I’ll know the meaning of grace
when I see Him, face to face
in that heavenly place… where love
is the very air I breathe….
Where love is the wind and the sea
Where love brings the answer to me…

I imagine a day,
	when I can finally say
time has gone and I’ve stayed
here with a King who knows everything
the best and the worst, all that I am
and He loves me, despite the evil plan
of a devil who would like to see me fall
unable to answer the love in His call,
the love that will tell me… I’m HIS afterall….

I imagine a day,
	when I’ll bow and pray
look to the skies and see the reason why
I’ve left the darkest gloom,
seen His love, rise from a tomb,
where He stayed for three days
so that I might one day say…

I’ll imagine until I’ll finally see
the love that is only His to give,
love that comes from Jesus,
who reminds me – though I’m unworthy
He is with me through it all
and even when I fall…
He will answer when I call….

I’m not so lost afterall…
His love has made a way
and time will someday fade,
but I’ll find His light, silencing the night
promising me that faith –
will one day take me to a place,
where I’ll be loved with such sweet grace,
in that home where I’ll finally touch His face…

I’ll imagine until that day,
when I can finally say…
I’ve met Him face to face
and everlasting is a real place,
everlasting will be the day…
when I am in the presence of a King
who lived and died to say…
Love has prepared the way…
	and forever never ends…

love never ends
it’s a lasting place
so I’ll try again…
to imagine this sweet day!

As I get older and especially the last two years since my husband passed, I too spend more time wondering what our home in heaven will be like. Your testimony here of your faith in God is touching as inspiration to other believers as well as those who doubt God's existence. A gospel song which is a great example for your current contest. You did not specify if entries are to be new writes.
