Lacking a Muse

Those writers inspired by a muse Have a bevy of topics to choose So when faced with a time For composing a rhyme There are mountains of thoughts to peruse. But the rest of us sit there and stare, Pencils poised, although barely aware Of the air that surrounds; Meanwhile, just out of bounds Are ideas others’ muses won’t share. Still, at last, the mere germ of a thought Will pass by and, if lucky, be caught And that’s all that I need For the poem to proceed So my worries all add up to naught.

I do not think you have ever had a dry spell, Ilene, and I imagine you have a muse, you just have to NAME her. This delights your muse and makes it more fun to work with you!

You never fail to astound me, Ilene, with your ability to illustrate everyday scenarios so colourfully. I think perhaps your world IS your muse. Terry

Ilene, as far as I'm concerned, the name "Ilene" would fit very well with those other nine.

The thought is a germ; the poem a worm. No wonder we poets squirm. ~ Pacyderm

I know the feeling Ilene, to be left bereft of rhyme. Very well put in this thoughtful rhyme. // Barry

I should think, from reading your poems each day, that you should never worry about writing, for you seem to be blessed with an abundance of creative energy. Good poem, Ilene.
