As a now semi-pro educator ( I no longer teach full time, only sub full time) I can attest to the veracity of this poem. I refuse to surrender the battle field, but we are going to need a big come back if we are to succeed in improving the deplorable state of public education. It's borderline child abuse what many of the students must endure from the lunatics who pretend to be educators these days. The system is broken and we teachers broke it.

Gershon, Your poem is a reminder of what is going on in this country. If I had any small children, I would be home schooling them. We are living in the Twilight Zone. Outstanding Write. Blessings ~ Debra

It is a nightmare you describe that has become all too real. Well captured and placed upon the paper with deadly accuracy. You are right on the mark, as you are ever a poet in arms... Ann

Children will be intently listening ! In our country all the schools are open and children have left behind their smart phones and bade goodbye to the internet. You have a way to capture the attention of the children !

It could be like this, for all I know. It has been a long time since I observed a Kindergarten class. But, I seriously doubt it, gw. Really, I do. They have a specific curriculum they are following, if I remember correctly. Kindergarten kid wouldn't know what "transgender" means if you explained it to them, and I have my doubts that any K-teacher would care to. Anyway, FYI, I had boys in the 5th-6th grade whom I knew were gay. Time proved me right. They presented no problems, of course, and no one I knew ever mentioned it. One is a bank president today, so apparently he did all right!

Nope! Not at all, gw. Just expressing my opinion in response to your poem. I did wonder when was the last time you were in an elementary school classroom, and I wondered if you were buying into the right-wing propaganda, which is, frankly, much ado about nothing. Nope, don't allow myself the privilege of being upset these days. If I did, I'd be climbing the wall all the time.
