Justice for Humpty Dumpty

***Humpty Dumpty*** When I heard Humpty-Dumpty fell, the next day I was on the move. I went and pled with Sherlock Holmes: “That he was murdered, you can prove!” He nabbed three suspects right away. The first, Bo Peep, was tending sheep nearby when Humpty met his fate, but Bo had proof she was asleep. Some sheep had strayed, but those who stayed with her said they'd all heard her snore all night. Sheep always tell the truth! This fact, Sherlock could not ignore. Old Mother Hubbard and the victim had a falling out, some say. She and her dog were interviewed. The dog told Sherlock, "Sir, no way could Mom have been involved in this 'cause she was doing stuff for me!" Dogs always tell the truth, Holmes knew. The killer was still out there, FREE! The third, the Itsy Bitsy Spider-- Yes, I know that seems bizarre— had pushed poor Humpty to his death. That's just how angry spiders are! See, Humpty occupied the wall that Itsy loved to dwell upon. When Humpty said he wouldn't move . . . he lay in pieces on the lawn. A witness came forth, Old MacDonald, declaring Itsy innocent, but folks don't always tell the truth. Then off to prison, Itsy went!

this is adorable, janice! my favorite part (aside from your delightful rhyming) is the observation that "folks don't always tell the truth," which is something no one could deny (including sheep and dogs)...
