Jubilant

yellow finch perches on the blue bell precarious existence a loopy optimism on a long flower stem, bending a high wire act a finely poised stature picture perfect infused with summer's tangled bounty yellow finch a jubilant preening in July sun elevating distraction till my movement disrupts the pleasure of seclusion its brisk flight away a furtive companionship jaunty unexpected jubilant in its simplicity

You are quite right, Brandy. There is optimism in a colorful bird taking rest on one's wildflowers. The finch took a hiatus on the hydro wires till I left. Through my window I saw it return to snatch Cosmos seeds. Many thanks for your stop by + congratulations. Best wishes, Brian

I found your poem simply uplifting...reminded me so of my summer encounter with the birds that frequent our yard. We don't have yellow finches but plenty of swallow tails, mockingbirds, and chi-chi's. You're right, they're jubilant in their simplicity. Lovely & congrats on POTD, Sara Etgen-Baker
