Jubilant

yellow finch
perches on the blue bell
precarious existence
a loopy optimism
on a long flower stem, bending
a high wire act
a finely poised stature
picture perfect
infused with summer's tangled bounty

yellow finch
a jubilant preening
in July sun elevating distraction
till my movement disrupts the pleasure of seclusion
its brisk flight away
a furtive companionship
jaunty
unexpected
jubilant in its simplicity

You are quite right, Brandy. There is optimism in a colorful bird taking rest on one's wildflowers. The finch took a hiatus on the hydro wires till I left. Through my window I saw it return to snatch Cosmos seeds. Many thanks for your stop by + congratulations. Best wishes, Brian

Thank you. Your insights into nature's offerings, Malabika, are spot on. Surprises on a bluebell wildflower were not to be ignored. In addition, I saw the colors of yellow + blue as having significance in these turbulent days. Be well. Brian
