Jingle Bells - a Parody

Jingle Bells, shotgun shells, Rabbit got away, O what fun it is to ride In my beat-up Chevrolet, [hey!] (repeat) Racing down the road We’re on a gleeful ride, My special girlfriend Fay Is sitting by my side, The car is making noise The road is slick with ice, We slipped into a snowy ditch And rested on our side. Jingle Bells, shotgun shells Rabbit got away, O what fun it is to ride In my beat-up Chevrolet, [hey!] (repeat)
written December 24, 2021 [The chorus is an adaptation I recall from childhood. The verse is entirely original.]

Thanks, Bill. I remembered by little brother singing the chorus with those words when we were kids. It stuck in my mind so that whenever I hear it sung, I find myself substituting the words even now. We'll miss you! :-(

Thanks so much, David, for your well-wishes. They are surely returned from here in Kentucky! I have heard that Jingle Bell chorus parody since I was a child. The verse I wrote to complete the parody. Kids get a kick out of it when I sing it for them.

what a fun poem Milton, I started off writing a parody for the contest but was unsure if it is classed as a song and not a christmas carol, so I started another using silent night:-) hugs Jan xx

Jan, I think she wanted new Christmas lyrics that could be sung to a Christmas carol, so I wrote new lyrics for "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing." I think Jingle Bells is more like a winter song. You know, it was originally written for Thanksgiving, believe it or not! If I were you I would submit the one to "Silent Night." Also Gina writes a lot of spiritual poetry, so I think that's what she would want. Thanks for your read. Sing this parody, because it always gets a good laugh!
