Jean's Peace

Inside a temple Jean sits quietly, clothed in radiant white from head to feet, soft pale hands and a Bible on one knee; a smile she beams on each who take a seat. Within the room is finest polished wood; all is clean, and the walls reflect the light of purity, which sought, is understood, for here abide the honest and contrite, and peace resides to blot the worldly strife they’ve left outside; sweet solace eases pain. Each soul here can reflect upon his life, for godliness and solemness do reign. It’s in the temple I envision her once the Spirit does her heart bestir. Note: Jean is my mother's name. She is a very spiritual person who enjoys the peace of the temples. March 4, 2015 For the Pick a Subject Contest of Shadow Hamilton

I love this sonnet about your mom. I wish I could find that kind of peace in a place...ok, I know I shouldn't say this, but I would have placed this higher....mine, too...LOL

The temple inside is where we all hide. To ease all our ills and hope love abides. If we keep them clean, we'll know just like Jean. What peace and sanctity can mean.

Your words enter my mind, resonate there and force me to feel the weight of their beauty. Your descriptive use of the English language and your suburb imagery are second to none. Emile. #7

Positively brilliant, Andrea! There are times when we need to shut out the world to find peace of mind. Some days it is best to avoid watching the news. Very little of it is good and violence seems to be everywhere but inside this quiet, soothing temple. Congratulations! Love, carolyn

I should read Ecclesiates again. To every season... Did you know the song Turn, turn turn by Pete Seeger. It is based on that Biblical tale. I go to temple every Friday night. My mother is alive, too though my father passed 6 years ago. Nice poem! Good luck in the contest! Peace & Love Matthew Anish
