It's That Simple

Do you believe in Santa Claus
the Easter bunny or Lady luck?
If so, you probably think this coronavirus
will die on its own.
But there’s as much chance of that happening
as you winning the lottery...Twice!
So, you can see our odds are cell-wall thin
and we need to pay attention to the health experts
if we are to avoid a crisis of biblical proportions.
Please wash your hands and stay away from crowds,
such simple steps, and yet, they're effective.
Also self-quarantine in your home, if it's at all possible,
or, at the very least, practice social distancing.
The lives of society's elderly and most vulnerable
are in grave jeopardy.
Their lives depend on us depriving this virus
of its human hosts,
till a vaccine can be developed
and becomes widely available.
Wear a mask and wash your hands,
doctors can't stress that enough!
The world is under attack
by an invisible invader,
and yet, we're unprepared for such a war!
Act like you already have the virus,
or you will catch it; it's that simple.
Hope's not a strategy, nor is the irresponsibility
of youth, an excuse.
COVID-19 will test our moral metal
taking us to the breaking point,
but hopefully, not beyond.
