Is the World Upside Down

Incredible but true, Believe it or not, But it happened. Driving in a secondary road, Feeling at peace with the world, Admiring the tall bushes and trees, I saw a woman thumbing a ride. I stopped to my regret for Three young hooded armed men Surrounded my car and robbed me of all I had, Hired car and all. I walked back to town Thankfully I got a lift. Got some cash from my hotel And went to have lunch. A beggar came in and asked for food. I took pity and went to buy Some food for him. The owner sent packing for both of us from his diner. Hungry we were, and hungry we remained. I saw a small girl roaming the street. I took her to the nearest station. In came her mother accusing me That I molested the girl. I spent the night in a cell. The next day, everything was cleared. I had just come from abroad. But now I ask: what kind of world is this? Three times I tried to do well. Three times, I was wronged. Can I be charitable again? Alas, it is in my nature To do always good.

Dearest Victor, your poem powerfully captures the cruel irony of trying to do good in a world that sometimes punishes kindness. Your words are compelling, and the escalating misfortunes create a strong emotional impact. The closing lines, despite everything, reveal an unbreakable spirit—a testament to the resilience of goodness. Always stay true to oneself is the message loud and clear...Love and hugs

Dear Victor, that’s so awful what happened you, when you had tried to do good. It’s no wonder people look the other way when they’ve lost trust after things happen, as they happened to you… Beryl

Yes, I hear you. Have had some true life insanely dangerous adventures being a good Samaritan. Would do it again. Just our nature. Blessings my friend.

Dear Victor, I felt your words hit like thunder, soraw, unsettling, and so real. They stirred my gut and made me sit with the ache of human contradiction. I believe you’ve captured the fragile tension between kindness and chaos. Well Penned! Winter Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

This is so sad. Goodness of heart has no value these days. Many are out to destroy the kind hearted people. While helping somebody, the bitter experiences we face dissuades us from helping some one in trouble. My husband and I were in trouble on taking an accident victim o the hospital in our car. After that, each time when a similar situation arises, we are hesitant to intervene. He Victor, may you be rewarded in Heaven for your kind deeds.

I am so sorry as this sounds traumatic. Writing is such a tremendous help, or at least it is one of many things you can do. This is a sad story.

It does make you wonder if the world's gone topsy turvy, when acts of kindness are met with robbery, jailing, hunger and suspicion. But, I love the fact that the spirit of kindness remains alive at the poem's ending. :)

Victor I will never forget when I was a teenager. I got off my work shift at 1030pm and as a teenager I had a job in a restaurant. There was a man that sat down and was there my whole shift. I asked him if he was alright and he said he was homeless and was hungry. I made him a sandwich and fries and a Milk shake. The Poor guy ate it up and thanked me. I had to walk home and he walked out with me. I told him there was a Catholic church down the street and we should go there and ask them for help.

The following day Victor we cooked breakfast for him and we called the authorities to find him shelter and give him a place to stay a shelter type of place. He thanked us and we dropped him off there. I will never forget though how the Church turned his back on him, and I thought to myself what would Jesus have done? I also thought what hypocrites they are, and that priest did not have the love of Christ in his heart to turn this poor man away. Almost like the rich man that did not give the beggar food or water. What you wrote reminded me of this incident Victor and this my friend is a True Story. The church name is St Theodore in Gates New York... Hope all is well my good friend...

There was a building next to the church that housed the Priest and all the church people involved with the church. I rang the bell and a priest came out. I explained to the priest of the mans Homelessness and situation. His response was there is nothing we can do for him. I was young back then and I thought the church to always take care of others like Christ had done. Boy was I wrong and this was a sad realization that I couldn't believe. I then told the man to come to my house, my parents almost fainted when I asked them to let a stranger sleep over because he did not have a place. My mother explained we didnt know him and it wouldn't be safe. So I asked them if he could sleep in my car outside and they said yes. So that's what he did.

Victor, this is an exceptional poem that centers on the transformative nature of the world. In today's world, generosity can pose certain hazards. It is unfortunate, but it is a reality we must acknowledge.

Wow! When the Holy Spirit prods you to help, with prayer and thus if things go wrong “all things work for the good of those who love the Lord, who are called to his purposes.” (paraphrase as I remember) Let the Lord’s angel army watch over us! Amen!

Gosh the opening stanza and the last one, its just so sad how when people try to help and be charitable, the world keeps showing reasons why they should not be. Iv seen and read too real life stories on similar things that happen and occur in various places. You always write in a way that readers will feel what youv written and this is no exception. I absolutely loved reading this and felt the depth of what youv conveyed. Sending you light today and always

on a good or evil level, be fair and don't go overboard. The magnitude and appropriateness of your response should be measured by what you got, were given, good or bad, and not be excessive. Beautiful poem penned

What a set of circumstances. The old saying that no good deed goes unpunished hit you 3 times. But, they did not sour you on continuing to do good. Good poem. Sorry to hear of your experiences
