inspired! by what – a big blue circle on a museum wall? it’s big it’s blue and it’s a circle but what inspires you? ‘well I like blue, and I’m fond of circles…’ but does it speak to you? does it whisper or shout or cry to you? does it make you want to kiss somebody or compose a melody or write a long letter to your best friend? does it make your heart race or sing or break? does poetry emanate from your lips? do you get the sudden urge to plant a garden or write your senator or fall in love? then pay it forward: create, give, thrive, love deeply feel the highs and lows with eyes wide open fill up somebody’s empty cup paint your self-portrait in whatever frame you’ve been given and never be embarrassed that you were inspired by a big blue circle on a museum wall

I love this, John. It is so wise and such an inspiration in itself. And the blue circle does speak to me, by the way-it's so beautiful. Congratulations on a well deserved win. :)

Yes, the museums being closed is a hard pill to swallow. This poem was inspired by an actual big blue circle (not the same as the image I shared) and conversations that arose from the viewing. Thanks for the visit and congrats, my friend ~ John

The big blue circle does little for me, but your poem is an inspiration. Well, on second thought, a big blue circle might be more inspiring than I first conceived. Any way great write.

It took me a long time to warm up to the big blue circle (or any abstract art, really). Thanks for the visit and kind words, Kenneth.

The terrific thing about this poem is this question "but does it speak to you?" because we never know unless we ask, and many of us forget to ask.

Ah, you've nailed it on the head, my friend! Not all art will speak to us, but then one will just jump out at us. Thanks for your thoughtful comment, Caren.

Another wonderful write from your talented pen, John! A delight to read and re-read!... And btw, do you have Senator Tammy Duckworth's address (D-IL)? I have this inexplicable urge to write her a letter after re-reading your poem a second time! Charming! Peace, Gershon

I can't help you with the senator's address, but I know a certain google who can! Thank you for your great comment, Gershon, and for taking time to read this twice!

Enjoyed this John. I thought straightaway of the English Heritage blue plaques (historical markers) installed on the front of buildings in London that commemorate links between the locations and famous people etc. Like your poem they often make me stop, read and think. :)

Gary, thank you for your kind words and the information about the blue plaques. I googled them and learned something new today, thank you! I can see why this would cause you to think of them.
