All this time I'm watching him I wonder if he knows In softest glow I warm his curls at night when shadows cast upon the walls grow longer And in his eyes the unrest grows I wish him stronger Sometimes i see his fear unfurls I'm quiet, I hear the murmur of the machine below me It's guarding him And in the moonlight shimmer I let the wheels see, when my lights dim that his shining armour is loving protection The voices playful at the door bring tender touches in his eyes they clamber in his warm embrace And I observe I wonder if he notices how warm I feel When watching how he plays with them, and how he tries Oh how he tries I wish he'd heal *** (Thank you, Chris :) ) June 6, 2017 Copyright © Darren White

Lovely poetry Darren. You have great talent. Whatever it is that you have given life too is beautifully described. I read it four times and yes I see that it is personification but I need your help on a little interpretation. Although I feel you may be talking about light. It is lovely.

Janis, it is the lamp on the ceiling indeed, you got that right :) I think that knowing this gives you everything you need to understand fully. Thank you :)

I do not quite understand this, but it's very pretty. I feel like it's someone watching over a child. A soft lovely feeling

It's a personification, thanks for liking it Andrea, and in a way that is what it it.

I love your poem my friend. It reminds me of Lamartine's lines: 'Objets inanimés, avez-vous donc une âme qui s'attache à notre âme et a la force d'aimer' :) Amitiés

Oui, je comprends parfaitement, and I agree too. It's what I like so much about personifications. For some reason it's easier to adhere characteristics to inanimate objects, perhaps because it's more away from you, not so close that you can't see anymore (if you can still follow my reasoning)

Beautiful words Darren, and even though I do not understand it all, I'm with you all the way in the hope that he will heal. Straight from the heart......Maria

Thank you Maria :) It's a personification, and I always find it fascinating that to the author words can seem too clear, but the reader finds different meaning in it. I love that.

A lovely, heartwarming personification <3 I can only guess perhaps this is your computer monitor. I hope the fears are less and less and you heal more and more every day, my friend.

A terrific poem Darren. I don't know who it's about but that doesn't take away from its beauty.

I love it when people interpret, I do however not think this is Jason ;) I do love him of course, but these kind of qualities he does not possess!
