She aches to feel accepted, By the ones who bleed doubts, fears, anxieties Friends of distrust and uncertainty, Friends, who don’t see her the way she is. They can see through her smile, Into the pain that surrounds her heart, Into the anguish, the grief, the dark, where she is… More than black or white, more than right or wrong, More than fear or faith – more than malice or grace. She aches to feel like she belongs, here – and right or wrong, She can breath hope into the forlorn heart, light candles where there is dark, She can reach beneath the shadows into the heart. She aches to feel accepted, by the ones who – because they don’t understand, Let her feel like she can never be normal, known, loved, By those who only see what she can never become, By those who never agree that black or white, She’s more. She’s bright and beautiful with vibrant hues in crimson, Cobalt like the skies, tangerine sunrise in her eyes, She’s lively, vibrant, energetic hues in buttery yellow, Silent and wise – yet, dazzling as the diamond, She’s clever as the stars, glistening and pulsating, Amazing with life that only God could have voiced. Only God could have breathed this spectral splendor of her!

Dearest Gina, your poem is simply stunning in its contrasts. The ultimate bloom of her vibrant humanity in vivacious color is vivid against the forlorn background of only black and white. I adore this amazing piece, sweet poetess. The beauty of your empathy shines from the depths of your soul. Congratulations for your win in Craig's contest. Warmest wishes, love and hugs to you, my inspiring friend.. ~Susan

Dear Gina, God's grace does indeed bring a rainbow of color and grace into every soul so lovingly created in God's image. You have wonderfully created a contrast between a colorless ache and the "vibrant hues" of acceptance. It is a wonderful poem, dear friend. Congratulations and high fives for your win!. Hugs and blessings as we enter Holy Week!

Oh my! Dear gina, this made me tear up, and touched my soul in so many deep levels! Such a poignant and soul hitting write that has a sincere voice emanating through your heartfelt lines: what would the world know of normal? When their definition is superficial. I love especially “More than black or white, more than right or wrong, More than fear or faith – more than malice or grace.” I want to print those lines and hang them on my wall! So good! So powerful! Love this! A fave! Congratulations

oh, the anguish of not being accepted or seen for who one really is--being seen perhaps in only black and white and not in vibrant, soulful colors. Your poem touched my soul, and I'm deeply grateful for your words. I agree with the last line! hugs, Sara
