She aches to feel accepted, By the ones who bleed doubts, fears, anxieties Friends of distrust and uncertainty, Friends, who don’t see her the way she is. They can see through her smile, Into the pain that surrounds her heart, Into the anguish, the grief, the dark, where she is… More than black or white, more than right or wrong, More than fear or faith – more than malice or grace. She aches to feel like she belongs, here – and right or wrong, She can breath hope into the forlorn heart, light candles where there is dark, She can reach beneath the shadows into the heart. She aches to feel accepted, by the ones who – because they don’t understand, Let her feel like she can never be normal, known, loved, By those who only see what she can never become, By those who never agree that black or white, She’s more. She’s bright and beautiful with vibrant hues in crimson, Cobalt like the skies, tangerine sunrise in her eyes, She’s lively, vibrant, energetic hues in buttery yellow, Silent and wise – yet, dazzling as the diamond, She’s clever as the stars, glistening and pulsating, Amazing with life that only God could have voiced. Only God could have breathed this spectral splendor of her!
