I'Ll Never Forget What's His Name

It would seem That age should Soften and feather Our memories Smooth off the edges Make them user friendly. As I get older As in being “old” Longer than most are “old” I still stumble on Old discarded lies Prick myself with Shattered dreams Burn myself by touching Still too hot …you know Secrets….angers…angst There are still a few I’d like to go back and…. Well, should’a done it then. I believe it is a curse One I must endure Until “death do I part” For I learned years ago MEMORIES ARE THE ONE THING WE NEVER FORGET

I was putting gas in my car just the other day and someone pulled up and started talking to me about when we were together in school. I still do not have a clue as to what his name is.

If I shoulda, coulda, woulda. Wait!...I can picture his face, but what the hells his name... True, John- memories are always there but sadly the older we get the more the memory gets old or faded too. Charlie

You touched a raw part of me. I can never remember names and occasionally even words. Blessings

Wow! Outstanding. The ending was absolutely powerful and the message is one with which I agree. Some of my memories, too, aren't user friendly. They bring forth poor choices, secrets, hidden angers and regrets. And to think I thought those memories would soften with age!** Am faving this one. Sara

We can't go back and undo what has been done. Anne-Lise is right about not being able to forget some things. Those memories come unbidden... sometimes when we least expect them to surface. Love..."Prick myself with shattered dreams..." Poetic prowess, John.

every now and then I revisit "the Circle Game" sung by Joni Mitchell and reflect on a time when the "top" was spinning faster and was more steady.
