ICE CUBE
who wants to settle in
and freeze on a park bench…
in a friend’s backyard…
drip-drip, the dream of the hereafter
what will you be thinking as you are sinking
in your seat
at the revelation of your death…
looking back a mother who cradled your head
most delicately…most carefully
milk pools around the rose bed
a smile seeps from the corner of your mouth
or is it the realization
that you can’t wake up
your silk shirt on bare back
would feel good…the color is good…
better than your reflection
in the dark
