fluffy clouds sail across the azure
and I drink from the deep blue where birds fly
I was thirsty, oh so thirsty for spring
listen, the birds have a new song
so lovely are the daffodils, tulips and crocus
oh, sweet the lush lilac's drooping
and I love the sunlit puddles and kittens . . .
in my garden purple violets are pushing to be free
and yesterday a butterfly came to visit
the trees have put away their winter gowns
and now stand vibrant in shades of green
peaceful is a robin bathing in the rain
and scampering squirrels run and dash . . .
everything is awakening with promise
a shiny new washes away the dregs of winter
and spring is like an open door waiting
I am no longer the wilted flower of winter
but have spring cleaned my weather-stained soul
my hair is a flowing river touched by a breeze
and my view is a sea of blooms sun-kissed . . .
