Poem written for Ink Empress' Break the Silence Prompt for No More Week, using the prompt provided "I taste love". Based on an account of emotional abuse and gaslighting.

it's not easy to know your own mind so you forget it in a wish to taste love, one more time sink into an absence of knowing's haunting "no more" feels strong, powerful but it doesn't last the world suddenly scary the whispers of "it's you, you're intolerable" collated from slivers of anything that might prove the point reinforce the need to let it all go all the doubts in self piece together and then you're grateful so sorry for the trouble you caused let it all slip away drift be lulled be soothed be brought back in it wasn't so bad, now that it's explained no need to reply ~ you just misunderstood those people were giving you ideas they aren't good for us see how happy we can be if you just... ~ forget your own mind give it no credit for knowing what it sees, hears forget how you felt just then taste love, sink into in or else things will be difficult you know this first person switches to third flatline drift be malleable zone out, get some rest it'll all be ok there's an issue what? you shake yourself awake where, who? not again you're still there with a will that left you but nothing else changed it all plays out as before strong no more what if it's me forget drift

Dear DD, gaslighting and emotional abuse two subjects that are very important to highlight and remind other individuals of , the intensity and impact of it on those that receive it, i like how you've touched that subject in such a poetic and creative manner. Your arrangement of words and so many lines in this such as "those people were giving you ideas they aren't good for us see how happy we can be if you just... " typical manipualativr mantras by abusive partners/etc pleasure reading this, i knew this was a top winner when i first read it too and i didnt realize how good the title would sound when used with no more! Thank you for using also one of the prompts given. Congratulations on your win

So much gaslighting goes on in life Dilly, even to a religious degree, some are quite adept at finding our weaknesses even those with mental health struggles are dismissed as having a lack of faith or spiritual flaw, leading individuals to doubt their experiences, and seek solutions solely through the gaslighter, even if one takes a step back as you do here and listen to (others), the gaslighter will peck away and convince us that those (others) are actually the manipulative ones, up until your brainwashed, and unsure about anything! everyone should read this brilliant insightful poem, and make their own mind up, cheers David

It's like a magic eye picture, once you see it (the manipulation) you can't unsee it but just like the magic eye pictures people do need to see it for themselves to understand

Unthinkable (Catholicism would never be used as a tool to try scare vulnerable individuals into compliance) unfortunately the gaslighter will use anything at their disposal, once it benefits them and them alone, they (bank) on it :)

Instinctively I'll reply 'not Catholicism' then I'll wonder why I chose not to think about my answer before replying :) an interesting take on the poem David, I hadn't considered beyond close relationships. What anyone feels they know can so easily shift when someone tells them they are mistaken or clouds the issue. I suppose that's where good examples of how things should look and feel come in and observable patterns.

Giving up or giving in to the whims of another's abuse will leave anyone drifting, lost. That is not a loving relationship and one to leave behind. You have stressed that in your unique way of writing, Dilly. I'm going to go the narcissist route in my entry. Wishes of luck to you.

I knew what my subject matter was going to include and had to slap my fingers to prevent it from becoming a novelette. It almost fit in length!

It's amazing how textbook patterns of abuse tend to be, yet realisation is still slow to occur in many cases. I did start writing for the narcissist one but it became like an upbeat pop song for narcissist spotting and I had to discard it :)
