I Miss You Mummy -Emotive Write - Quatern

Placing a red rose on her grave; tears welled up in his huge brown eyes. Daddy told him he must be brave - mummy is watching from the skies. He hopes his mummy can see him placing a red rose on her grave. Losing his mummy was so grim, her comforting arms he does crave. He tries his hardest to behave, but the anger he feels is raw. Placing a red rose on her grave, he’d love to see her face once more. He’s so thankful he still has dad; smiling, he gives heaven a wave. Though his heart is heavy and sad placing a red rose on her grave.

Dear Jan, your poem's imagery is so tender and poignant. There is beauty in grief and sadness and you've penned it with finesse. Congratulations for your excellent win in Joseph's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

I didn't enter this contest - apparently I don't write poetry on my birthday! Never knew that. This is a real tear jerker, so glad it is not your story. You got my heart with this one! Hugs ... CayCay

So beautiful, Jan, this reminded me of my granddaughter. One day after shopping she wanted to stop my daddy's grave, of course I didn't want to take her, but she insisted. When we got there she laid on his grave giving my daddy a big hug and kissed the ground. I cleaned the head stone and laid some flowers so when we got ready to leave she laid on the grave again saying goodbye :'( I will always remember
