I hesitated for over a month – should I join Poetry Soup … Would they like my poems and accept me in their group? It is not my intention to be a famous writer I try and write with wit to make our lives a little brighter I write on many subjects – I sometimes have a moan My humour is ‘unique’ and may make some people groan Harsh words can knock us back; criticism can drag us down Let’s try to live here in harmony and smile instead of frown I try to be lighthearted and if I can make people smile They may forget problems and their worries for a while Kind words cost us nothing - a smile can brighten up our day I hope that I can make a difference with the words I say Some do not like my poems - I can’t please everyone But I hope my style brings Poetry Soup some fun! If it's true that a person can live happily all day long having been paid one nice compliment then I see your life span not weakening until you are well past 103!

Thanks Judy... I try and comment positively on as many poems as I can - no need for negativity on here - we have seen it can can only cause harm. As regards longevity ... it is on mum's side of the family - her great great aunt lived to 111 and 121 days and was in the Guinness book of records ... so you may be stuck with me for a few more years to come lol :-) Hugs Jan xx

I refuse to let the negativity here spoil my enjoyment Carolyn - it seems to go round in cycles and it is back again to haunt us. I did get very down last April/May time with comments in one blog and stopped writing for a week as a result - made me think my 'simple' poetry was worthless - I am wiser now and know better - I write for one reason and that is for me:-) Hugs jan xx

I can write with humour at any time Kim no matter what is happening in my life - even when dad died I still produced some witty poems - I just have to go with the flow of my pen - I have no control of my muse. It helps me get through the day making other's laugh - I still have not mourned for dad - am sure it will hit me in time:-( Hugs Jan xx

Well I myself am a great poet of all forms but I was just wondering...what's a couplet and how come the last word in every second line rhymes with the last word in the first line? Do you lose points for that? One last question. What are points?

Jan, do not con yourself, you are a poet, perhaps not for money or fame but a poet of the heart, I admire your sense of humour and you can pen beauty so moving, 7, and thanks for visiting my poem, The Ghetto, sometimes I wish I had never seen it in that devastated state and could have held onto my beautiful childhood memory

Thanks so much Broken Wings - I started to write simply as a way of expressing my emotions when my hubby had his cancer surgery - having never picked up a pen before I am amazed at the impact writing has had on my life - it is like a tap has been turned on and I never want the ink to stop flowing:-) Hugs Jan xx

Aww thanks Eve am so glad your hubby liked it too - I often read out poems to my hubby. I have seen negativity breeding again in soup recently - such a shame we simply can't accept we are all different and not try to prove something or someone is better than the rest :-) Hugs Jan xx
