I Had You
"as the rain pitter patters down my sill,
I think of our August picnics along the shore-
the days when our nutrients were nourished,
and stardust fell upon our lips as we kissed.
for there is no path to the exit sign when
you're in love-
no hunger that can't be satisfied;
I never knew how thirsty I was,
until you quenched me..."
Before gold had rainbows I had you, my sweet,
a KIND man whose arms held me as strong as ore.
The way you look at me when I close the door-
my big teddy bear sweeping me off my feet.
Like petals on a tulip, you c o m p l e t e me,
pull me closer so you can hear my heartbeat-
when life drowns you in fear and you feel defeat,
remember our guarantee of loyalty.
No longer am I alone or f o r s a k e n,
for you give sights I thought I’d never see.
How compassionate can one man really be?
Yes, my BELOVED, my heart did awaken.
S a t i s f i e d sighs of love; soft words unspoken,
simplistic dreams down a path never taken-
for our precious love shall never be shaken,
crimson Autumn vows shall NEVER be broken.
