Notes About The Poem

I Cry On Your Anger

I love you, but they say I can't
For I'll extinguish you
But that I will defy
That fiery independence
You bow before me and hide
How can I kill the one I love?

You hate, you say, and run
From me, I will pursue
Will stalk your every trunk
and twig, your every shoot
and limb. What you devour
I soothe, I cry on your anger

My tears will quench your ire
Until you give yourself to me
My arms and body douse
your rage. You will surrender
We both will leave fertile
soil behind, offspring will grow.

Ah ... a dual personification, eh. Very clever sneaky of you, Darren. This is, however, a masterfully crafted poem of emotional depth and spiritual simplicity. Cooling waters of forgiveness and compassion soothes the raging fires within a soul. Splendid poetry from a talented wordsmith. Love and peace forever.

From reading several of your poems I see that the way of love is not an easy and smooth one for you. In spite of that, your work is full of messages of hope when things are going badly and joy in the struggle itself. I love the last line of I Cry on Your Anger, "You will surrender We both will leave fertile soil behind, offspring will grow." That's what poetry is all about, a statement of the problem and then a masterful whiplash of a solution at the end.

No one managed to guess the personification right, so I will tell you :) It's about wild fire and water to extinguish it, leaving fertile soil behind for new growth

I love the personification...It has something to do with the tree...Must be a catapilliar or some other insect that lives of the nourishment of the tree.....But I'm probably wrong : ))

Seeds and nuts are packed with life and energy; loved the illustration. I felt some sadness in reading this: you rise to the challenge in all loving - allow each to grow, flourish. Shalom!
